Born and raised till the age of 12 in India, Sajal and family immigrated to the US in the late 1970s. He spent the next 13 years in Chicago, completing his bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Chicago. Sajal then spent the next five years in Europe, primarily Spain and the UK, where he completed his MBA studies in General Management, at IESE Business School, one of the top 15 business schools in the world. Sajal is fluent in Spanish, Hindi and English.
Since his MBA, Sajal has worked for 20 years in roles of increasing responsibility in marketing, product innovation, general management, and corporate strategy. He has worked for well known organizations such as IBM, Arthur Andersen & Co., Bausch & Lomb, Philips, and currently serves as executive director marketing, devices innovation at T-Mobile. Sajal and his team were the core team responsible for the recent launches of the G1 & T-Mobile myTouch, the world’s first two Android phones, in collaboration with Google.
In his spare time, Sajal serves on the advisory board of several private companies, including Confirm BioSciences of San Diego, CA, and Aardvark Healthcare, of San Francisco, CA. Sajal is also a Vice-President of the University of Chicago global Alumni Board of Governors, and a commissioner for the City of Issaquah, WA Planning Policy Commission.
Sajal has been married to Neeraja Sahay, for 14 years, and they have two children, Neel, who is 9, and Soumya, who is 7.
