Since entering the computer industry in 1973, Beau Vrolyk has held a number of positions in software engineering, sales, marketing, and general management.
As founding CEO of Arete (NASDAQ: ARIX), he launched the first microprocessor-based SMP server in 1982. During the late '80s, he served in a number of senior management and board positions at: Envos (an AI spinoff of Xerox), Silicon Valley Software (an OEM provider of compiler technologies), Quintus (a Prolog compiler and service applications software company), and Laviner Technologies (a vendor of high-resolution optical plotters).
In the early '90s, Beau and his family sailed their ketch from San Francisco to New Zealand through the South Pacific Islands. In the late '90s, he was the vice president and general manager of the Xerox Workgroup FAX and Multifunction Printer Division and, then the senior vice president of SGI's product group, responsible for all manufacturing, engineering, and product marketing.
Following a short stint as CEO of 3ware, an iSCSI storage company, and TogetherSoft, a Java Development tools company, Beau joined Warburg Pincus as a managing director. He works out of the company's office in Menlo Park, California.
Beau is a member of the board of directors of RMI, a semiconductor design company, and Cassatt, a systems software company, both in San Jose, California.
