Alan Smith is a serial technology entrepreneur with 20 years' experience in the computing, software development, and fundamental technologies, living in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. He has a bachelor's degree in Forestry from UBC, having specialized in Biometrics and Computing Sciences.
Alan's company ThinApse Corp., which sold in 2004, was a leader in enterprise computing innovations, having worked early with Citrix (1995) and VMware (2001) and maintained the highest authorizations in those channels.
Currently, Alan sits on the board of Verb Exchange Inc., a Vancouver-based technology services company, which he was instrumental in turning around in early 2005. In 2008, he restructured the technology company Isee3D. Alan is currently restructuring a wireless co. and is investigating a energy process that can increase the efficacy of aircraft fuels dramatically. Alan has also served on the board of TRlabs, a $20 million telco research consortium headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Alan's most recent startup is Vesta Health Systems Ltd., which was a featured FiReStarter company at the 2009 Future in Review (FiRe) conference in San Diego.
Alan is married with two children. He enjoys downhill skiing, hiking, and discussing improvements in our political and economic systems.
