Joel Montgomery

Joel Montgomery has worked in 19 countries, lived in five, and speaks three languages. During his seven years of work experience, Joel has proven that he can transform an underperforming sales territory into a key growth region, all the while serving the needs of the poor, from Costa Rica to Pakistan. He has consulted to firms around the world in the areas of sales, marketing, business development, change management, and operations. Joel has also negotiated international contracts with corporations such as Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive, S.C. Johnson, Unilever, and Nestle.

Recently, Joel completed his work as a Fellow with Acumen Fund, an innovative nonprofit that utilizes market-based solutions to tackle some of the most critical social issues in the world. As part of the yearlong fellowship, Joel spent nine months in Pakistan with one of Acumen Fund's investees, Micro Drip - an irrigation solutions company that works to increase crops yields and conserve water usage for poor farmers.

With his combination of hard business skills, heart for market-based solutions to poverty alleviation, and cross-cultural understanding, Joel is eager to help push the envelope in the social enterprise space.

In early 2010, Joel will be starring in the upcoming feature documentary The New Recruits.
