Dave Grannan

Dave Grannan is president and CEO of Vlingo. Vlingo is the world's most popular and fastest-growing voice recognition application. Vlingo allows people to control their mobile phones with the power of voice. With Vlingo, people can simply speak to their phone to send a text or email message, call a friend, search the mobile Web, update their Facebook status, and a whole lot more. As the inventor of the mobile phone "voice user interface," Vlingo is the only technology that allows people to open and use virtually any application on the phone simply by pressing a button and speaking to the phone. Launched in the summer of 2008, Vlingo already has millions of users in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

Dave joined Vlingo in 2007 from Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone maker, where he was a general manager and responsible for leading Nokia's entry into the mobile email market.

Dave has extensive experience in the mobile and software industries and a proven track record for launching and growing new businesses. Prior to Nokia, Dave held various executive positions in the wireless and software industries.

Early in his career, Dave was part of the communications industry group at Accenture, where he advised new entrants in the PCS market-on-market entry strategies. From there he joined Sprint PCS as a general manager to help launch what became the fastest-growing U.S. wireless carrier. Later, he served as president and CEO of Geoworks, a global wireless data software company. Prior to joining Nokia, Dave was vice president of partners at Openwave.

Dave started his career in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he led a unit responsible for the deployment of spread-spectrum wireless-position location systems in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Kuwait and Iraq. Dave holds an MBA from the University of California- Berkeley.
