Ravi Chiruvolu is an investor and currently sits on the boards of numerous technology companies, including Rearden Commerce, Altierre, Casdex, DC Games, Diversinet, Ellie Mae, Intech, and Winery Exchange. He has been in the venture business since 1998, beginning as a general partner at Alta Partners, a technology and life sciences fund with $500 million under management, and then as a managing general partner of Charter Venture Capital with $400 million under management. Ravi was also a technology columnist for the Venture Capital Journal and is a founding partner of the Las Vegas Sports and Entertainment Group (LVSEG).
Prior to venture capital, Ravi held senior positions in revenue operations and product management. He was general manager at Peapod (Internet grocery), business manager at Ameritech (where he was rated in the top 10 out of 60,000 employees), product manager at Motorola (wireless infrastructure), and technical manager at NASA (Robotic Labs). Ravi was also a business analyst at McKinsey & Co.
Ravi was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army (Ordinance Corps). He has an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MS in Control Systems from MIT, and a BS in Robotics from MIT. Ravi is a sports fanatic with a passion for tennis, soccer, football, and golf. He also recently coached Junior League basketball.
