David Huizenga, Ph.D., is a partner in Arnall Golden Gregory's Life Science practice group, leader of the Patent Team, and a member of the FDA Team. Prior to law school, David obtained his Ph.D. from Harvard in the laboratory of Jack Szostak, Nobel Laureate in Medicine. His research focused on the structure/function relationships of small molecules and functional nucleic acids, such as aptamers, and the integration of rational and irrational discovery paradigms to identify molecules having new and desired function.
As a lawyer, David has engaged in all aspects of biotechnology patent prosecution and intellectual property counseling, as well as litigation. David has also worked closely with small biotechnology and pharma companies as a counselor and in certain situations in a founder's capacity. David's practice focuses on analysis and advice for early- and mid-stage commercial opportunities and the strategic commercial, scientific, and legal analysis that leads to their next value inflection point.
