FiRe/Rodel Foundations Intern, Thunderbird School of Global Management
Robert Girvin is a recently graduated (May 2013) accelerated-MBA student at the Thunderbird School of Global Management specializing in Entrepreneurship. In addition to his studies at Thunderbird, Robert is also working on two early-stage ventures, one being a technology startup to manage the continuing education process for licensed financial professionals and the other in film production. The documentary film he is currently co-producing, Man of the Monkey, which recently received a post-production grant from the Tribeca Film Institute, was accepted at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival this April. The film will be complete and ready for the festival circuit in the fall of 2013.
Before attending Thunderbird, Robert received his BA in Finance and BS in Accounting from Villanova University in the spring of 2000. He has an audit/accounting background, including eight years in public accounting and three years as an internal auditor for a global Fortune 500 technology services firm. At Thunderbird, his background and interests have also led him to work on two due-diligence review projects for the Thunderbird Angel Network and to consult with a commercial real-estate developer in Phoenix to prepare pro-forma financial statements. After graduation, Robert will continue to work on his startup activities while also looking for opportunities in venture capital to expand his skillset.
Robert's personal interests include watching independent films and attending film festivals, golf (6 handicap), and volunteering as a member of the Men's 20-30 Club of Phoenix. His travels have taken him to over 36 countries. Robert is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Pennsylvania and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
