Scott Tierney is a partner in Valo Ventures. Previously, he was director of Corporate Development and Strategic Partnerships at Nest Labs at Alphabet Inc.
Prior to Nest Labs, Scott was general partner and co-founder of Google Capital. He has been a partner, operator, or advisor for a broad range of businesses in the internet, mobile, and consumer sectors.
Prior to joining Google, Scott was a general partner with Steelpoint Capital Partners in San Diego. He became an investor after leading two successful growth stage companies: Scott was president and COO of Archimedes Technology Group, a nuclear technology company headquartered in San Diego (sold to General Atomics); and a founding executive and head of the Investment Banking Division for Epoch Partners, an online investment bank headquartered in San Francisco (sold to Goldman Sachs). Prior to launching Epoch Partners, Scott was a vice president at Morgan Stanley.
Scott received an AB in Social Studies from Harvard College (magna cum laude) and an MBA from the Haas School of Business (where he was a Haas Fellow).
Scott has led investments in SurveyMonkey, Machinima, Arris, GreatCall, Bag Borrow or Steal, prAna, OpenTable, and Shutterfly.
