Senior Scientist, Pattern Computer Inc.
Irshad Mohammed is a senior scientist at Pattern Computer Inc., where he is responsible for the research and development of advanced machine learning algorithms with an emphasis on deep neural networks. His interests lie in mathematical modelling, analysis of big data, machine learning, deep neural networks, numerical simulations, and statistical parameter estimation and their application in computer vision, natural language processing, and biomedical and financial datasets. He has an extremely strong background in mathematics, physics, and statistics with more than seven years of experience in computer programming.
Irshad holds a PhD in extra-galactic astrophysics and cosmology from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and a masters in Astrophysics from the University of Bonn, Germany. Prior to joining Pattern Computer Inc., he held a postdoctoral research position at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) in the Greater Chicago Area and a visiting researcher position at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), Berkeley, California. His prior research directs toward understanding the dynamics and energy content of the Universe, as well as its origin and evolution. He has been associated with projects aiming to forecast the systematics and predict the results of future space- and ground-based telescopes, such as eRosita, Dark Energy Survey (DES), Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST), Euclid, and others. He has authored nearly a dozen scientific papers published in various international journals.
