Roy Robinson studied Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics at the Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland, graduating in 1971.
Roy began his working life in aircraft systems research and development at the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough, England, and at Smiths Industries, also in England. He arrived in the US in 1978 to work for Simmonds Precision on aircraft fuel management systems, later joining Eldec Corp. in Lynnwood, Washington, in 1991. Eldec provides aircraft sensing, control, and electrical power systems. Roy was president of Eldec from 1999 to 2003. In 2003, became CEO of Aviation Technologies Inc., a group of companies providing aircraft avionic systems and components. He retired from that position in 2007.
Roy's interests are in learning more about the the fundamental changes taking place in both the aerospace and automotive worlds as AI becomes capable of replacing the pilot / driver and electrical power begins to augment or displace both the internal combustion and the jet engine.
