Marcel van Hulle is a senior vice president with the Info-Tech Research Group, a Toronto-based research and advisory firm. In this role, Marcel is responsible for Info-Tech's business development with customers and business partners. Over the past 12 years, he has delivered consistently substantial double-digit growth to Info-Tech and built up a 4,000+ account base worldwide. Under his leadership, Info-Tech was named the fastest-growing research firm, with a clear view on future developments while being the best on implementation guidance.
A seasoned executive, Marcel brings a wealth of knowledge gained during his 30-year international career with IBM, where he held various global executive positions in software and consulting services, operations, and business development. Marcel was vice president for IBM Europe heading up IBM's Information Management Division across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Previously, Marcel served as IBM's worldwide vice president for Linux software. He led the transformation of IBM's middleware software on Linux from an emerging opportunity to an enterprise encompassing business solution. Marcel was vice president for IBM's enterprise content management software and worked with customers and business partners on how to manage and archive an exponentially increasing number of documents, images, voice registration, emails, and business information. Marcel expanded the existing scope from a fragmented niche product approach to a digital enterprise management-wide solution.
Earlier in his career, Marcel was a research fellow for Agfa and served as a scientific advisor to the Belgian prime minister. During this time, Marcel published dozens of scientific research papers in international magazines.
Currently Marcel is member of the board of directors for two organizations and serves as chair for the board of directors of Stratford Summer Music.
Marcel obtained a PhD in Physics and received a master's degree in Education and a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Ghent (Belgium).
