About Me

As digital content manager, Kris Krüg manages social accounts for the Future in Review (FiRe) Conference Corp. and the Strategic News Service and produces the weekly Future in Review podcast. He is also the official event photographer for FiRe.

A documentarian specializing in photos and videos of people and events, Kris has made photographs of Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and both George Bushes, as well as rock stars, entrepreneurs, and athletes the world over. He is also interested in open-source software, maker culture, and new forms of storytelling.

Kris has participated in several Olympic Games, has traveled with TED Talks, and photographed New York Fashion Week. His photos have been published in National Geographic, Rolling Stone, Businessweek, the Financial Times, USA Today, the LA Times, Ion Magazine, Heads Magazine, the Victoria Times-Colonist, the Seattle Stranger, the Westender, and the Terminal City News, as well as on PBS, Wikipedia, and other online and print publications.

Recent projects include:

  • Keynoted the United Nations Global Youth Summit on HIV in Mali, Africa
  • Photographed the BP Oil Spill for National Geographic magazine and helped organize TEDxOilSpill [Scott, should look like: TedxOilSpill]
  • Established Independent Media Centers at COP15, Vancouver 2010, and the Democratic National Convention
  • Documented the Tribal Journey’s Qatuwas Festival with the Squamish Nation, a 600-mile canoe trip up the West Coast
  • Worked as a cameraman on Chris Jordan’s documentary film Midway on Midway Island
  • Mentored grade 6/7 youths in media literacy and production as part of the Access to Media Education’s “Digital Foraging” project
  • Traveled around Bolivia with President Evo Morales as photographer for the World People’s Conference on Climate Change
  • Collaborated with artist Douglas Coupland on a project documenting the work of Marshall McLuhan

Currently based out of British Columbia, Kris is also a pilot, sailor, and fisherman.
