About Me

Benjamin Hilborn is CEO and co-founder of the company Elastic Energy (“We make the grid think for itself”), headquartered in Victoria, British Columbia. With a background in electrical engineering, Benjamin previously worked at a couple of IoT startups before starting his own – primarily in industrial IoT, medical devices, and consumer electronics: “a whole gamut of making small things, taking them through production, and making sure that they talk to each other nicely.”

Ben’s passion is getting the electrical grid ready for humanity's future as a Type 1 civilization. Elastic Energy powers coordinated home energy systems and grid programs for solar providers, utilities, and energy partners. The company monitors real-time production and usage, reduces peak energy costs, and automatically optimizes batteries, EVs, HVAC systems, and other distributed-energy assets around your rate plan, available grid programs, and battery revenue opportunities in your area.
