About Me
Gary Marcus is a leading voice in artificial intelligence, well-known for his challenges to contemporary AI and his advocacy of alternative approaches. He was the founder and CEO of Geometric Intelligence, a machine-learning company acquired by Uber in 2016; and is the founder and executive chair of Robust AI.
A professor emeritus at New York University, Gary is the author of six books: the New York Times bestseller Guitar Zero; The Algebraic Mind; Kluge, one of the Economist’s “eight best books on brains and consciousness”; The Birth of the Mind; Rebooting AI, co-authored with Ernest Davis – named one of Forbes’ “7 must-read books in artificial intelligence”; and, most recently, Taming Silicon Valley: How We Can Ensure That AI Works for Us.
