Marco Terruzzin, PhD, has served since 2019 as chief commercial and product officer at Energy Vault, where he has played a pivotal role in scaling the company’s global commercial strategy and product innovation roadmap. A passionate entrepreneur and energy transition leader, Marco has been instrumental in launching groundbreaking solutions – such as hybrid long-duration storage platforms –that are transforming how utilities and enterprises decarbonize their energy infrastructure.
Prior to joining Energy Vault, Marco served as director of energy storage at RWE Renewables (2017–19), where he led strategic initiatives to integrate battery storage across utility-scale wind and solar portfolios. Before that, he was head of the energy storage edge platform at Stem Inc. (2016–17), where he helped shape the early business model of intelligent, AI-driven distributed energy resources.
Earlier in his career, Marco held multiple entrepreneurial and leadership roles across global markets. As managing director – Americas for NOHA (formerly Engie EPS; 2015–16), he launched and grew operations in the US market, paving the way for strategic partnerships and early deployments of microgrid systems. Previously, he served as managing director, APAC, for Evolution Markets, based in Beijing, where he built energy trading and carbon market platforms from the ground up across emerging economies in Asia.
Marco’s expertise bridges technology, finance, and policy – making him a sought-after voice in the fields of clean energy, energy storage, and sustainability. He has advised startups, investors, and international institutions on market-entry strategy, capital formation, and energy transition planning. He holds an MSc in mechanical engineering and a PhD in energy economics from the University of Padua (Italy), as well as an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
